Skyland Camp for Girls provides a close knit support system that allows girls to explore and become the very best version of themselves. “One thing that defines Skyland is the personalized experience that results from our small size,” says Skyland Director Sherry Brown. “We have no more than 65 campers, so everybody gets to know each other really well.” From the moment your daughter steps onto Skyland Hill, she’ll feel welcomed and a part of the Skyland community.
This small size gives girls the chance to interact with campers from six to fifteen years old. They’ll eat together, play and compete on teams together, and work together to produce a Broadway Junior musical.
While campers are housed by age, there is plenty of opportunity to build relationships across all ages and generations. Within two to three days, your daughter will know everyone else at camp – and she’ll have scores of big and little sisters to share her summer with.
Those close relationships extend beyond campers to our staff, counselors, and camp directors. “The campers are able to find mentors not only in their peer group but in older and younger campers, staff, and counselors. These connections continue year after year at camp … and into their professional and personal lives in later years,” Brown explains.
Skyland’s small size is a comfort to parents as well. While your daughter is away at camp, we know your house might seem a little quiet. “What I love about Skyland’s small size is that I can stay connected with every family,” says Kay Anderson, Skyland’s Associate Director. “I’ll see your daughter at every single meal. I can tell you how many bullseyes she got in archery, or what horse she rode yesterday.”
