Girls Camp: Packing Tips and Tricks
Summer camp is a time for girls to create unforgettable memories, make new friends, and learn new skills. It’s an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. However, packing for 16 days of summer camp can be overwhelming. To help make the packing process a breeze, we’ve compiled some tips and tricks to help you pack for Girls Camp.
- Start with a Packing List
Before you start packing, make a list of everything you need to bring. This will help you stay organized and ensure nothing is forgotten. Check Skyland Camp’s recommended packing list in the Parent Handbook and use it as a starting point. - Label, Label, Label!
Labeling all of your campers’ items will help your camper and her counselors keep up with her belongings. Everythingsummercamp.com has lots of label options. Use our code play827sc at checkout for discounts. - Remember Rest Hour
If your camper isn’t a big napper, she’ll want some quiet activities to enjoy during Rest Hour! Remember to pack a book, coloring pages, stationary to write home, and/ or puzzle games like sudoku. - An outfit a day…
For younger campers especially, it can be helpful to pack an outfit for each day, put it in a bag all together, and label that bag according to the day. This definitely isn’t a requirement, but some campers love picking out outfits in advance and knowing what they’ll wear each day. - What Shoes are Best?
All shoes must have a heel strap (except shower shoes). Most campers like to have at least one pair of shoes that can get wet, like Chacos or Crocs, for the dewy mornings, as well as tennis shoes or sneakers. - Trunk, Duffel, or Suitcase… oh my!
Don’t stress too much about having the “correct” luggage. The truth is, any luggage will do! Many campers love their trunks (they are quintessentially summer camp), but a large duffel or a couple of suitcases will do the trick too. - Skyland Store Pre-Orders
Skyland’s online store will be open until June 18th for pre-orders. All pre-orders will be ready for pick up on opening day of Girls Camp. Stock up on your Skyland shirts, camp essentials, and T&T spirit wear! The Skyland Store will also be open during drop-off and occasionally throughout the camp session.
