What’s up with that new cool CAMP-y ACA logo?

You may have noticed a new “logo-thing” on Skyland’s website.  Good eye!

Many have asked: “what IS that?”  Well … it’s may seem like a small thing, but it is a stamp we display with tremendous pride and humility.  It’s Skyland’s ACA Accreditation logo that was awarded to us last month by the American Camp Association.

Accreditation is a voluntary process, and to become accredited by the ACA, camps must meet up to 300 health and safety standards. Accredited camps are responsible not only to meet state and local laws, but also to meet those requirements defined by the standards included in the areas of food service and safety, transportation, health and wellness, as well as standards in operational management, human resources and programming.

This past summer, two accreditation visitors spent one full day on Skyland Hill and their time was divided between facility tours, including sleeping and cabin accommodations, food prep and dining areas, vehicle tours, maintenance/storage areas, and activity areas.  They interviewed staff and visited with campers and then spent several hours with directors and other staff to determine compliance with each of the 280 standards.

We are pleased to report that Skyland programs met or exceeded all requirements and that Skyland Camp for Girls is fully accredited by the American Camp Association.

We are proud of each Skyland team member for providing exceptional programming and for sharing their passions of curiosity, creativity, learning and personal responsibility with colleagues, campers and families.  THAT … is how we foster lifelong friendships at Skyland.

Skyland Camp has ALWAYS been FABULOUS … and it just keeps getting better!!
