5 Random Acts of Kindness You Can Do Today

We’ve all been in need of a little extra love and kindness these past few weeks. Here are some simple Random Acts of Kindness ideas that will spread some positivity and joy to you and your neighbors!

Leave positive messages around your neighborhood

In our area and across the internet, we’ve seen people create posters, memes, and chalk messages to post around their neighborhoods. Some are funny, some are inspiring, and some are heartwarming. These messages always make us smile while out for a (socially distanced) walk or bike ride. As an added bonus: this is a great activity for kids and it gives the whole family a chance to get outside! Create your own messages to leave around your neighborhood.

Leave a thank you note for delivery drivers and postal workers

Delivery drivers and postal workers provide essential services to our communities and are putting themselves at risk in order to safely deliver your necessities. Leave them a note on your door or mailbox to let them know that they are appreciated!

Smile and wave

While out for a walk around the neighborhood, you can still share a smile and a wave from 6 feet apart, and we suggest that you do! It costs nothing and it might just make someone’s day.

Check in on friends and family who live alone.

Many people have now been in isolation for weeks. This is particularly difficult for those who live alone. Check in on your loved ones with regular Facetime/ Zoom calls and text messages! Physical distance does NOT mean social distance!

Cheer on healthcare workers at 7 o’clock

At 7 o’clock every night in many cities and neighborhoods around the world, people open their windows or step outside to clap their hands, bang pots and pans, and cheer for healthcare workers as a sign of appreciation and respect. Join in the applause and start the trend in your neighborhood! (it’s also a great way to let the children in the house blow off steam by being LOUD for 5 whole minutes!)

Stay safe out there, Skylanders! Remember to always wash your hands and spread some joy ❤️
